About This Film
Film Overview
In the USA it's Spring Break, but in Europe it's the Love Parade, an annual rave-revel in Berlin that lures young hedonists from all over the continent. Beautiful, sheltered Julietta, an 18-year old student from a wealthy Stuttgart family, dons her black Louise Brooks wig and rides the railway to Berlin for the festivities and an ecstatic rendezvous her boyfriend Jiri, a part-time taxi-driver and medical student who sustains a heavy regimen of work and study with his handy access to pharmaceuticals. Under the intoxicating influence of the crowds, the music, and the designer drugs, the couple enjoy a brief, dizzying tryst, until police intrude and they lose track of each other in the roiling masses of merrymakers. Julietta nearly drowns in a public fountain but is fished out by Max, a Love Parade DJ. What happens next, however, will change several lives forever, when the trance-dancing stops and consequences take over. When Julietta accidentally catches her mother cheating on her father, she cannot confide in either of them about what befell her at the Love Parade. Instead she runs away from home, looking for Jiri in Berlin. By a quirk of fate, Jiri and Max have become apartment-complex neighbors, and Julietta's appearance in their midst stirs up a hornet's nest of guilt and evasion. By the end of JULIETTA it is clear that someone must grow up and take responsibility ? but who? (In German with English subtitles)
