Film Overview

Director John Antonelli's 3-year labor of love created an award-winning, compelling portrait of Jack Kerouac, whose “On The Road” is regarded as the seminal novel of the Beat Generation. The part/docu-drama, part/documentary opens and closes with clips of Kerouac's own “verbal jazz” readings from “On The Road” as a guest on the Steve Allen TV show. There are fascinating interviews with the “Beat King's” ex-wife, writers Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs and Lawrence Ferlinghetti and other intimates, intermingled with dramatized key portions of Kerouac's life and work. A terrific jazz score highlights the in-depth coverage of Kerouac's persona, from childhood to his self-destructive, early demise. An unforgettable tribute.
