Film Overview

Inspired by the enormous success of “La Cage Aux Folles” (1978), it comes as no surprise that there had to be a sequel. LA CAGE AUX FOLLES II was made with Italian star Ugo Tognazzi and French star Michel Serrault repeating their highly acclaimed roles as Renato and Albin. Renato is the proprietor of an elegant Riviera cabaret featuring transvestite entertainment and producer of its spectacular revues. Albin, billed as “Zaza Napoli,” is the show's star attraction. The adventures of Renato and Albin begin in their elegant apartment in Nice, and they quickly become involved in comic pursuit as this odd couple is embroiled in a series of dangerous misunderstandings between spy ring killers and secret agents, the action taking the pair across the French border into rural northern Italy. “La Cage Aux Folles” proved to be one of the most successful foreign films ever released in the United States. Preliminary reports of “record-breaking” business suggest that this sequel will do even better.
