About This Film
Film Overview
In this intriguing and hard-hitting film, Peter Medak (“The Krays”) tells the true story of Derek Bentley. a lost soul whose crime and punishment was a cause celebre of early 1950s Britain. Mentally retarded, an epileptic and social outcast, Bentley was caught by police breakmg into a warehouse with 16-year-old Chris Craig. Craig had a gun, and when the policeman demanded he hand it over, Bentley urged Craig, ambiguously, to “let him have it.” Craig pulled the trigger. Craig and Bentley's murder trial led to one of the most controversial miscarriages of justice in modem times. Brilliantly acted by the young leads and their seasoned supporting cast, LET HIM HAVE IT is a bold and enduringly relevant experience. -Vancouver International Film Festival.
