Film Overview

Upon discovering that she is pregnant by her irresponsible boyfriend, Mary Cameron leaves her quiet, provincial town to have her child in the big city. One of the jobs that she takes to support herself and her child is modelling nude for live drawing classes at the university. Eventually she herself begins to draw, and discovers a wealth of talent which she nurtures. With her newfound abilities comes self-confidence, and slowly Mary takes control of her life. LIFE CLASSES is full of subtle delights and insights, marking MacGillivray as one of Canada's freshest talents whose films bask in the quiet truths peculiar to the rhythms of his native Nova Scotia.
