Film Overview

Original Title: Món Petit
English Title: Little World

Meet Albert Casals, 20, a Barcelona native who has been traveling the world since he was 15. By himself. With no money. And his wheelchair. (What did you do today?) Relentlessly upbeat, Albert’s insistence on living the life he dreams of has lead him on a globetrotting whirlwind adventure covering five years of his life. His newest journey will take him across the globe, literally, to the very spot that is farthest from his home in Spain: a lighthouse in New Zealand. This trip, however, will include his girlfriend (of course he has one) and will take him nearly 200 days. LITTLE WORLD is an uplifting and courageous film following a young man who has to be one of the more inspirational tales of this year’s CIFF. Happy-go-lucky is Albert’s meal ticket as he hitchhikes across foreign lands, stays with welcoming strangers, and seemingly smiles across 30,000 km of Earth. Albert isn’t just the subject of this road trip film, he is the tour guide for the audience, taking us on a journey of enlightenment that can only be attained through a young man paralyzed by leukemia but energized by life. Intoxicating and triumphant, Albert shows us all that life is what you make of it. And if your dreams are big enough, it truly is a LITTLE WORLD. (In English and Catlán with subtitles) – T.W.
