Film Overview
Set in modern Buenos Aires, this stunning film follows the sojourn of Jose, a journalist obsessed with the disappearance of his girlfriend during the days of military rule. Jose is sent by his editor to cover an American movie being made about poverty. He is outraged by what he considers to be the filmic exploitation of his country's poor, and interferes with the filming. When he is subsequently fired, and tossed out of his rooming house, he wanders the streets in search of his lost love. Gorgeously shot in a highly expressionistic style, this film utilizes irony and touches of humor which heighten the denunciatory tone of the film.
