Maryan

This is a tale of one man’s love for his woman and the sea. MARYAN is a handsome Tamil tiger shark hunter and cocky self-proclaimed king of the ocean. Though he’s standoffish, the fetching Panimalar tries to charm him into loving her. Just as Maryan (inevitably) falls for Pani, a rivalry between him and a local thug forces him from the village. Two years pass as Maryan labors in the hostile deserts of Sudan, while constantly dreaming of his Pani and the sea. Finally heading for home, he is captured by violent terrorists. Though exposed to psychological torture, Maryan’s faith in the future keeps the darkness at bay. This fascinating love story/thriller, based on a true adventure, incorporates Bollywood-style musical numbers—including a memorable Afro-dance sequence by the desert terrorists.
