Film Overview

This wildly-original psycho-thriller presents a hero you won't be able to forget. Because he does. A man named Leonard Shelby continually falls victim to a rare neurological ailment that prevents him from forming fresh memories and recalling events from only 15 minutes ago. Because of his “accident,” in order to function Leonard has to surround himself with notes, charts, photographs, even tattoos to constantly keep conscious of who he is, what he's doing and why. And what he has embarked upon is tracking down and punishing the murderers responsible for the death of his wife – he thinks. By unreeling the dire events in non-linear time, MEMENTO places the helpless viewer on equal mental footing with teh resolute but disoriented protagonist. Who is a friend? Who is a nemesis? And what have I done? Be ready for a cinematic labyrinth of tension, deception and revelation. MEMENTO's corkscrew scenario won writer-director Christopher Nolan a screenwriting prize at this year's Sundance Film Festival, and we urge you not to miss the final 15 minutes. Or the first 15 minutes; or all the quarter-hours in between.
