MEMORIES OF A MARRIAGE

Last year Newsweek Magazine cited this as one of a number of high-caliber films that weren't getting their due in the United States. Finally it has arrived, and to great acclaim. Karl and Regitze are a long-wedded couple readying for a dinner party with some old friends. During the preparations, Karl's mind wanders back to his first meeting with his wife and their subsequent life together. Throughout the evening, scenes from the past and present are constantly juggled, as we share their years of love, sorrows, and joys. By the end we learn there is a troubling reason for Karl's reflections. Denmark's film critics chose MEMORIES OF A MARRIAGE as their country's best film of the year, the second time director Rostrup has been so honored.
