About This Film
Film Overview
It is going to be a very long night for Cristobal, a 40-year-old failed businessman. His wife Elisa has departed for Barcelona on a scholarship, leaving him behind with his children and a massive load of bitterness and hurt pride. He decides to cope with this by disappearing and wandering the streets of Santiago, trying to deaden his pain with alcohol and meaningless sex. But even in this endeavor, he seems unable to succeed. As this particular night progresses, Cristobal moves from woman to woman, trying to either beg or bully them into sleeping with him. After he finds his wife has emptied his bank account, things deteriorate quickly. Broke and starting arguments with everyone he meets, Cristobal continues to wander aimlessly. Dawn and an unavoidable choice are quickly coming. Darkly humorous and gut-wrenching in turn, MUCH BETTER THAN YOU sweeps you along on Cristobal's downward spiral. He is an imploding shell of a man that the viewer will be rooting for as his absurd night of failures draws to its close. (In Spanish with subtitles) —C.R.
