About This Film
Film Overview
MY HEART GOES HADIPPA (“My Heart Goes Hooray”) is a glorious Bollywood extravaganza that boasts colorful costumes, white-knuckle cricket matches, and two of the most adorable actors on earth. Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapur play Veera, a country girl from Amritsar, and Rohan, a local boy who left the Punjab to become a professional cricketer in London. Now Rohan's dad, who owns the perennially losing Indian national cricket team, lures his son home to whip them into shape for the yearly match against Pakistan. Cheerful, bouncy Veera is a lass whose prayers to Sikh Guru Nanak have so far gone unheeded, for she dreams of playing cricket on the selfsame national team. You see, Veera is a world-class batsman, but nobody knows it since she never gets to play in the big leagues. Now determined to compete, she disguises herself as a man, complete with whiskers and Sikh turban. When new coach Rohan takes on this talented young player, sparks are sent flying and saris are sent twirling. MY HEART GOES HADIPPA will send you home with a song on your lips, a dance on your hips, and perhaps a newfound appreciation for cricket. (In Hindi with subtitles) – B.B.
