Film Overview

It’s never too late to love. Worried about her retired sea captain father’s health as he nears the end of his life, Grace hires a widow to look after him and the house, setting into motion a fraught but considerate story of love, guilt, and the ghosts we can’t leave behind. —M.G.Retired sea captain Howard’s memories collect dust, alongside stacks of dirty dishes and laundry in the sink. His daughter Grace, vehemently harboring layers of love and resentment toward her aging father, insists he receive some extra help before she can secure a place for him in a retirement home. When widowed Annie fills the role of Howard’s new housekeeper, his stubborn resistance slowly blossoms into a mutual connection. While Annie and Howard bask in the companionship they didn’t know they were missing, Grace’s life reaches the brink and she warns Annie that Howard may not be all that he seems. MY SAILOR, MY LOVE, a seaside tale of finding new love at any age, intertwined with a heart-wrenching father-daughter relationship, offers a multi-faceted love story as beautiful and unforgiving as the sea. —A.B.
