Film Overview
North Star takes place over the course of a day at work at Garst Museum in Greenville Ohio. Three researchers tell the story of Annie Oakley’s extraordinary rise to fame in the late 1800s and the events that inspired her dazzling athletic career. It’s a story within a story; at once Annie’s biopic–testament to her enduring impact–and also the story of the three women–Brenda, Karen and Nancy–who have spent a collective 40 years of their lives excavating Annie’s _true story_ that has never come to light…_until now_.
**_ _**As past blends into present, the spotlight shifts from Annie back to the women and how Annie’s legacy is reflected in the work they do at the museum. Each relating to her in their own right, they resonate with her struggle to chart her path in rural Ohio. North Star bears witness to their reclamation of Annie’s story from the canon of misrepresentation that has come to define her legacy.
