OLD ENOUGH (w/ guests Marisa Silver, Director, and Dina Silver, Producer)

Writer-director Marisa Silver attended Hardvard University, editing and making films such as her prize-winning short, “Dexter T.,” which was shown at numerous film festivals. She co-directed “Community of Praise,” on of the 6-part PBS “Middletown” series aired in 1982; that same year the Sundance Institute for Independent Filmmakers, founded by Robert Redford, chose Silver's original screenplay for OLD ENOUGH for their program. OLD ENOUGH marks the Institute's first investment in a feature film. Marisa and Dina Silver, the film's producer, are the daughters of director Joan Micklin Silver. OLD ENOUGH focuses on the summer friendship of 2 girls of different backgrounds. Lonnie (Sarah Boyd) is almost 12, a sheltered, rich kid living in an elegant N.Y. brownstone with her WASP family. Karen (Rainbow Harvest) is 14, street-wise and outwardly tough, the daughter of a tenement house super. The girls' friendship develops after a street encounter and soon they are vying for leadership in rites of passage that include the shoplifting and application of make-up, observing their own and others' sensuality, and dealing with family life that is less than perfect.
