About This Film
Film Overview
Three couples who live in the same apartment block decide to escape the summer heat of Athens. But by the time their vacations are over, their lives will be forever changed. Kostas and Katia are a young, wealthy yuppie couple whose relationship has cooled; Katia wants a baby before it's too late, while Kostas seems unaware. Working-class couple Fanis and Morfoula travel north with their slightly retarded son and pretty daughter who has leukemia. Journeying south to the islands are Mihalis, whose drug habit is constant, and Sandra, who secretly wants to leave him for her lover. All of the travelers encounter trouble on the road – from a hit-and-run accident, car breakdowns, a mysterious hitchhiker, and a missing child, while back home a 17-year-old burglar on the run from the police breaks into their apartments. He is Yannis, a sexually confused kid who finds refuge in the empty apartments, as well as plenty of material to play with. Through his prying eyes the secrets of our travelers are revealed in surprising ways. The film is rich in sensuality and lush, Mediterranean color and set to pulsing music, crystallizing the tensions and contradictions of modern Greek life. (In Greek with English subtitles.)
