About This Film
Film Overview
The tango is a dance performed with intense feeling. Sometimes that feeling is hate. After a legendary career spanning 50 years, the two most celebrated dancers in the history of the tango reveal this and many other hard-won truths. Now in their 80s, María Nieves Rego and Juan Carlos Copes speak openly about the partnership that swung madly between love and loathing and forever changed the art of the tango. In OUR LAST TANGO, Juan and Maria tell their stories to a group of young tango dancers in Buenos Aires. Through a series of beautifully staged and choreographed tango numbers, these young dancers interpret and enact the pivotal events in their heros’ lives. This provides the perfect balance for the intimate and soul-baring interviews with this beloved and iconic duo. By letting the world's most passionate dance help tell the story of its greatest practitioners, OUR LAST TANGO reveals the tempestuous heart of the artist and makes for an unforgettable film experience.
