If only Bemz Benedito had run for President last year! Bemz is the first openly transgender person to run for office in the Philippines. She is the beating heart of OUT RUN, a sparkling documentary that takes us into the LGBT fight for equality in a culture not altogether different. Bemz is one of three openly LGBT candidates who ran for office in the 2013 National Election in the Philippines. But this is not just their story as they fight for three seats open to minorities in the House. It is also the story of Ladlad (which means “come out”), the world’s only LGBT Political Party.
