Parasol

On the beautiful holiday island of Majorca, three lonely and somewhat damaged people are about to reach pivotal points in their lives. Annie is a 73-year-old who has scandalized her children by running away to the island to be with a man she met online. Pere is a tour bus driver, estranged from his wife and willing to try anything to retain the love of his daughter—even stealing his tour bus for a day out with her. Alfie is a painfully timid young man, smothered by his parents, who is looking for acceptance with a couple of drunken and violent louts. Amid the tourists and garish plastic attractions, this trio is about to make some interesting discoveries about the world and their places in it. PARASOL is filled with wonderfully observant moments and unforgettable images. Sometimes humorous, sometimes sad, and possessed of a decidedly offbeat world view, this film is about those strange encounters that link us all under the brightly colored and insane parasol of life.
