Film Overview

Alfi, a lonely Italian-American man, spends his nights scrolling social media, absorbing influencer-driven trends that dictate how food should look rather than how it should taste. One evening, he decides to cook an elaborate pasta dish from influencer Lilian Lalande – a woman with millions of followers convincing people she knows authentic Italian food.
As he watches her video, his mother calls, reminding him that pasta needs to taste good – it doesn’t matter how it looks. But he ignores her, carefully plating his dish, adjusting the lighting, standing on his chair for the perfect photo. The moment he takes a bite, however, he realizes the truth: the dish is inedible. Soon, his body revolts.
What follows is a hyperreal fantasy – a wish-fulfillment scenario where Alfi gets everything he unconsciously desires. His post spreads. Lalande follows him. Brands offer collaborations. Dating apps flood him with matches. He is invited to talk shows, all because of a dish that looks beautiful, but tastes disgusting. The world rewards his illusion, confirming an unspoken truth: when we post online, we seek not just recognition but validation, admiration, love.
Yet, as his digital self ascends, his real self deteriorates. His mother’s texts go unanswered. He eats alone. The pasta he cooks is nothing – niente. Alfi faces a choice: sustain the illusion or learn to create something real – something his mother would eat.
