About This Film
Film Overview
Arafat has a problem with porn. Watching it at work just cost him his job and it pretty much comprises his social life. He has no girlfriends, just a trunk of X-rated DVDs under his bed. His parents, with whom he still lives at age 30, are traditional Palestinians who keep coming up with one disastrous match after another. In desperation, Arafat joins a sex addicts’ support group where he meets Kenny, the worst 12-step sponsor ever. Kenny gets Arafat to agree to a Green-Card marriage with a beautiful young Israeli woman, who only wants to stay in America to be near the man she really loves. Worse than the possible trouble with Homeland Security, worse than his parents’ meltdown on hearing of this, Arafat actually begins to fall in love with his new bride. Only in New York. Bitingly satiric, PEACE AFTER MARRIAGE is an edgy rom-com about the crazy walls we build to isolate each other and the chaos and joy we can find when those walls coming crashing down.
