Film Overview

You know those documentaries that make you feel terrible for not having already saved the world, or the manatees, or your neighbor? The ones that raise questions but don?t answer them? PEACEABLE KINGDOM is not one of them. It does take a hard look at the animal farming industry, but from the perspective of former farmers who no longer practice what they once preached. Take Harold Brown from Cleveland, a farm kid who loved animals and who, along with countless others, bonded with their animals before seeing them taken to slaughter. Or Howard Lyman who turned his family?s small organic farm into an industry feedlot, only to regret it years later. They and others found sanctuary for animals and themselves through Lorri and Gene Bauston, a couple that once saved a mistreated animal, only to make it their life?s work by founding Farm Sanctuary, a peaceable kingdom of its own in upstate New York.
