PERFECT CIRCLE

In besieged and chaotic Sarajevo, the only question is: Should one try to get away, or stay? The wife and daughter of the poet Hamza have left. Adis and Kerim, brothers aged seven and nine, have lost their whole family, except for an aunt who has fled to Germany. Returning to his home one afternoon, Hamza finds the boys searching his apartment for food. Though apprehensive at first, Hamza lets them stay and takes it upon himself to find their aunt. As the days pass in the devastated city, the three get to know each other and find the love they need to survive the everyday misery of life during civil war. Eventually, the poet hears that Aunt Aicha has been found. They prepare for the dangerous trip to Hranisca, from whence the children can travel to Germany. Director Kenovic has crafted a poetic, compassionate tale, a film that is warm, simple and authentic. PERFECT CIRCLE is also Sarajevo's first feature-length movie examinating the horror of this century's longest siege. (In Serbo-Croatian with English subtitles)
