Film Overview

Set in 1979, PITTSBURGH is the coming-of-age story of scrappy nine-year-old Mints. Eager to wrap up a visit with her unstable and needy divorced dad, Mints’s unaccompanied flight home is re-routed to Pittsburgh, where she must spend the night in a hotel. For one chaotic night, Mints is left in the care of an irresponsible, party-hopping stewardess and a wacky, hard-nosed grandma. As Mints witnesses the sheer unreliability of the adults around her, it becomes utterly clear to her that she must become her own protector — a revelation that leads her to make a pivotal decision.
