Please, Please Me!

What's a man got to do to have a little sex? A lot apparently, and sometimes that doesn't even guarantee the desired end result. First, he must fetch coffee. Next, when the neighbor knocks, the door must be answered. Then, a woman calls. And, with the call, the story unfolds. Jean-Jacques (played by director Mouret) tells his girlfriend Ariane about his friend who has created a fail-safe way to lure women for encounters. Not considering the consequences, Jean-Jacques tries it out… and unwittingly lures the President's daughter, Elisabeth. Ariane, upset at first but not wanting to be completely undone by the near infidelity, comes to the conclusion that perhaps it's not infidelity but being a “thoroughly modern couple.” She sends Jean-Jacques off with her blessing to consummate his desire at a party hosted by Elisabeth. A comedy of errors, part Buster Keaton/part Woody Allen, follows. A soundtrack that rings of the Pink Panther underscores the absurdity.
