About This Film
Film Overview
They got it all… and they got it wholesale. Lucky and Levon are somewhat unlikely business partners. But they have a relationship that works. Lucky, an illegal immigrant from Ghana, draws people into Levon's storefront on Broadway where, in the backroom, designer merchandise can be had at great discount. Levon, an Armenian-Lebanese immigrant and shopkeeper, pays him a cut of each day's sales. It's the new American Dream. But both of their personal lives are falling apart. Lucky spends his days hustling and his nights romancing women in his tiny one-room apartment, to no meaningful end. Levon's marriage is slowly unraveling as he and his wife find less and less to talk about. The past catches up with the ultimate player when Lucky has a son thrust upon him from a previous relationship. Levon helps Lucky, the most reluctant participant, as he learns to be a father to the toddler and, perhaps, have a life with greater meaning. PRINCE OF BROADWAY'S fast-paced, guerilla-style shots only accentuate the gritty, sometimes painful-to-watch story. Can this forced father and son duo make a new life together? – C.C.P.
