About This Film
Film Overview
The double entendre title ? creating adults or adults who can produce children ? only scratches the surface of this complex film that tackles fertility, gender differences, hetero and gay relationships, hormones and trust. Venla is a beautiful psychologist who counsels people in a fertility clinic. Her longtime boyfriend is a speed skater who has Olympic potential. Both in their thirties, Venla wants a child and Antero doesn?t, and each goes to extremes to get what they want, or prevent what the other one wants. Venla works with Satu, a bi-sexual clinician who is secretly in love with Venla, and helps her with advice and more. No one trusts anyone, and no one tells the truth to the right person in this struggling triangle, complicated by an irritating man who sometimes sleeps with Satu. What draws people together? What tears them apart? Is Antero selfish because he doesn?t want children? Is Venla just driven by her biological clock? What, in the end, makes a viable couple? PRODUCING ADULTS produces surprisingly honest results. The subdued tone and excellent camera work add to the mood.
