About This Film
Film Overview
Dan has a price on his head, thanks to a birthday check from mom. It put his checking balance over his permitted limit by $70. Now his insurance has canceled his drug coverage and he cannot refill his HIV medications. Without them he may die. This is a comedy. Yes, you read that right. PUSHING DEAD takes a crazy mix of friendships, strange relationships, and the horrors of computerized medical systems and blends them into a subversive and upbeat cinematic smoothie. Dan and his adopted family are people you will grow to love. Using savage wit and striking originality, this film gleefully ignores all the accepted conventions of how to deal with HIV. It will make you angry, maybe even cry, but mostly it will make you smile. As Dan and company fumble through their various challenges, some unexpectedly wonderful things happen for them (and the audience). Sometimes the harder life is, the harder you laugh. PUSHING DEAD will push you into feeling empowered and very glad to be alive. —C.R.
