Film Overview
Lawyer/filmmaker Frederick Wiseman (“Titicut Follies,” “Model,” “The Store”) is internationally acclaimed for his vivid explorations of American society in key institutions. Like his other films, RACETRACK is presented with intrusive voice-overs, an entirely natural and objective observation of the subject's essence. Wiseman studies the thoroughbred racing world, focusing on New York's Belmont Race Track and the everyday activities of the handsome horses and the relationships among all the people involved with their care, training and racing, from the stable hands to their owners. The grandstand is a little drama by itself, chronicling the joys and disappointments of the spectators who bet and can only watch and pray to win.
