Film Overview

REAL LIFE is the first feature film by writer, comedian and filmmaker Albert Brooks, probably best known for his often funny, often telling film vignettes seen on “Saturday Night Live.” Undoubtedly drawn from the grotesque true-life adventures of the Loud family on public television a few years ago, Brooks' story is about a documentarian named Albert Brooks who scientifically selects a nice, average American family about whom to make a meaningful, in-depth film portrait. In the process, he wrecks their lives, his own life and most of the community around them. In the course of this mayhem, Brooks pokes fun at both Hollywood filmmaking and social scientists' research activities. “The film is filled with funny, often witty performances.” – Buck Henry, Los Angeles Filmex
