Film Overview

Working for a private security outfit, Jackie scans surveillance monitors, looking for any sign of criminal activity. Seemingly just going through the motions of her work, Jackie is visibly shaken when a familiar face appears on a monitor. Her shock at seeing the loutish Clyde on the screen is telling: he has most certainly affected Jackie's life in the past, but how? Living in the low-rent Red Road area of Glasgow, Clyde becomes the focus of the unrelenting Jackie, who stalks him until an eventual and explosive encounter. Exploring voyeurism and revenge, the film is an intense thriller that keeps audiences guessing until the last frame. RED ROAD is the first film of the Advance Party Project, an experimental project that will culminate in three films by three directors, each featuring the same characters. Director Andrea Arnold has set the bar for the project high with an impressive and engrossing feature film debut. –J.B.H.
