Film Overview

The overthrow of Romania's dictator Nicolae Ceaucescu in December of 1989 was neither simple nor clearcut. in this amazing marriage of journalistic documentation and cinematic reality, director Robert Dornhelm has filmed a stunning and remarkable film about revolution, “truth,” and its victims Dominic Paraschiv, a childhood friend of Dornhelm's, was accused of being the “Butcher of Timisoara,” a Securitate member who had killed 80 colleagues. Unable to believe it, Dornhelm traveled to Romania and found Paraschiv being held in a hospital, wounded, bleeding to death, naked, and strapped to a bed. Dornhelm has filmed the drama of his search for the truth, revealing that the real facts about the massacres, seen on evening newscasts worldwide, were not as straightforward as they seemed.
