Film Overview

Sadako Sasaki was born in Hiroshima in 1943. She was a strong and healthy girl, playful, exuberant, a believer in good luck. One day, at age eleven, she felt strange and dizzy after a relay race at school. This feeling stayed with her until finally she sank to the ground. Sadako had leukemia, “the atom bomb disease.” While she was hospitalized, her closest friend told her of the Japanese tradition that if she folded 1,000 paper cranes. she might be granted her wish to be well again. With courage and faith. Sadako began folding … Liv Ullman narrates this true and poignant tale of personal faith.
