About This Film
Film Overview
As he has exhibited in his previous films (?Sugarbaby,? ?Bagdad Cafe” [I 3th CIFF, 1989]), Percy Adlon has a unique ability to tell wonderful stories about eclectic characters finding love in unlikely places. In this exquisite and breathtaking love story of unfulfilled lesbian desire, country singer k.d. lang makes her feature film debut as Kotzebue, a half Eskimo, half?white androgynous young woman. Abandoned on the tundra as a baby, she is in search of her roots when she meets Roswitha, a reclusive East German librarian who escaped over the Berlin Wall years before. As an unexpected friendship develops, Kotzebue falls madly in love with the older woman. But she must pursue Roswitha back to the reunited Berlin before she can declare her love.
