About This Film
Film Overview
Prison officer Fabio has little time for sentiment at work. His job is to decide whether prisoners should be granted temporary leave for personal circumstances, and he takes it very seriously. Though many unqualified inmates expect his assistance, he never wavers in his shrewd judgment. Even when his girlfriend's father offers him a hot new car and a less mentally-demanding job, he abruptly refuses. He is passionate about his work. His latest case is with Sparti, a convicted murderer who has been incarcerated for 20 years. And Sparti's circumstances are far more personal for Fabio than any other case. While questioning Sparti, Fabio struggles to maintain his professionalism. As his troubled past continues to torment him, he must decide whether or not to disclose his unlikely connection to Sparti. SALTY AIR is the first film of director Alessandro Angelini, who boldly combines a superb cast and fast-paced editing in this gripping and decidedly unconventional prison film. (In Italian with English subtitles) – E.J.B.
