SANTA SANGRE

Fenix, a child mime in a circus, is traumatized when he sees his father, the knife thrower, cut off his mother's arms and then kill himself. Growing up in a mental asylum, Fenix escapes and joins his armless mother, who has been waiting for him for almost twenty years. They return to the world of the circus, performing a bizarre pantomime together (both on-stage and in daily life) in which mom's body is fused with Fenix's arms, creating the image of one person. Mama's manic will compels Fenix's surrogate hands to butter her toast or to kill her imagined rivals with equal care. His only salvation lies in the love of a girl from his childhood. A film that is as shocking (beware, you who are weak of stomach) as it is campy, SANTA SANGRE is a unique experience!
