Siegmund “Menne” Spiegel first met Heinrich Aschoff and the other Westphalian farmers as a teen in the trenches of World War I. There, Menne became a decorated war hero for saving his comrades' lives. Now, many years later, Menne is forced to seek out help from his “band of brothers.” It is 1943 and the night before he and his family – beautiful, blond wife, Marga and adorable daughter Karin – are to be exported to a concentration camp.
