Film Overview
The powerful and demanding SILENT SCREAM is based on the life and writings of Larry Winters, murderer, poet, drug addict, whose experiences helped to reform the British prison system in the 1970s. While AWOL from the Parachute Regiment in 1964, Winters, seemingly unprovoked, killed a bar owner. Sentenced to life in prison, he became increasingly depressed and aggressive, and was eventually transferred to a special unit where he was encouraged to express himself through music and poetry. The film unfolds in a series of disparate episodes-many in prison, some as memories of Winters' childhood- to reveal a troubled and violent individual imprisoned by his own fear.
