About This Film
Film Overview
STILL MINE features a world that has changed a lot during Craig’s (James Cromwell) 80-plus years. Energetic and stubborn, change is something he either ignores or only happens on his terms. But even Craig realizes the crumbling farmhouse he and his wife Irene (Geneviève Bujold) inhabit is no longer safe. Rather than move, he decides to build a newer and smaller house nearby on his property. In spite of his children’s protests, he determines to build it himself. Craig quickly runs afoul of the new codes and rules and, in predictable fashion, chooses to simply ignore them. But there are other things he is trying to ignore as well. Irene’s memory is rapidly failing and the work of building a house may just be more than even he can pull off. Craig simply wants to build a final warm home for them to enjoy their remaining time together. But in the face of the bureaucracy and hurdles he encounters, Craig’s inflexibility and a cold new world are making that prospect increasingly unlikely. – C.R.
