About This Film
Film Overview
Since her daughter's divorce, Danielle (veteran French actress, Bernadette Lafont) has been charged with seeing that her grandchildren are safely turned over to their father for holidays. Intending to leave the pre-teen Marine and her younger brother Tomas with their father for Easter, Danielle's plans are suddenly changed when his girlfriend arrives to collect the children. Refusing to leave her grandchildren with a stranger, Danielle takes it upon herself to treat the children to a vacation. They embark to the Swiss mountains on a spontaneous trip that results in fun and adventure, but has devastatingly stark moments as well. As Danielle's behavior grows increasingly erratic, she eventually decides it would be impossible to return the children to their parents. The result is an intriguing story about love, growing old, and the generational complexities of family. (In French with English subtitles.) –J.B.H.
