Film Overview

At age 27, Luc Besson (“Le Dernier Combat”) is one of the youngest directors revolutionizing the look of French movies today. SUBWAY is a romantic thriller filled with Cesar-winning stylish imagery, reminiscent of “Diva.” Christopher Lambert (“Greystroke,” “Love Songs”) won the Cesar for Best Actor in the role of Fred, described as a cross between Mad Max and the Little Prince. Spiky yellow-haired Fred is hunted by some nasties in a spectacular car chase, crash-landing in a Paris metro station at closing time. The chase continues, now submerged in an underworld peopled with bizarre hipsters who live eccentric lives hiding in the labyrinth concealed behind the No Entry signs. Fred forms a rock group, courts Isabelle Adjani and battles for his life.
