Summertime

Time offers little mercy for star-crossed lovers. Delphine is a young woman who’s broken free of her family’s farm in southern France to head for bustling Paris in the 1970s. After a chance meeting leads her to Carole, the gutsy force behind an outspoken woman’s liberation group, Delphine becomes enraptured with her free spirit. Carole, though already engaged to the progressive Manuel, submits to her advances and begins stealing away for impassioned rendezvous. As desire reaches its swelling peak and Carole reveals their trysts to Manuel, fate unravels the romance when a health emergency sends Delphine back to her hometown. Carole clings desperately to the hope of maintaining their relationship in spite of the small town’s gossip and prejudice. They protect their secrecy with flings in the lush, rural landscapes, but know they can only remain hidden for so long.
