About This Film
Film Overview
An optimistic 59-year-old migratory beekeeper travels across rural China with his hives, following the brief blooming season of rapeseed flowers that sustains both his livelihood and his quiet sense of hope. He cares for his bees with a tenderness akin to love, believing each new flowering marks the beginning of spring.
Upon arriving at a new field, however, he faces unexpected challenges. A local village chief, citing strict safety concerns for nearby tourists, orders him to leave, forcing him once again into uncertainty. Soon after, disaster strikes when agricultural drones spray pesticides across the surrounding farmland, killing large numbers of his bees and devastating his fragile livelihood.
Yet even in the face of loss and displacement, the beekeeper remains quietly resilient. Packing his remaining hives, he sets off once more toward the next rapeseed bloom, carrying with him an enduring optimism and a gentle faith in renewal.
