About This Film
Film Overview
Adults only, ye sods! Nah wee bairns allowed in this hallucinogenic Highlands haggis of hysterical humor and horror set in the squalid welfare estates o NOrth Edinburgh. THE ACID HOUSE brings to the screen three unspeakable short stories by bleeding-edge author Irvine Welsh (“Trainspotting”), here making his debut as a screenwriter, adapting his own blistering prose and fearlessly evoking the convulsively cruel Scotland of druggie punks, brutal cops, and lassies whose legs are like a doss house: Open All Night. You'll meet Bob Coyle, a dim lad having the worst day of his life – lost his lodgings, lost his girl, lost his spot on the rugby team. Bob finally finds someone he can definitively blame for all his troubles: God. But what if God's just as furious at Bob, eh? Finally, a lightning bolt and a bad tab of LSD combine to trans-zap the mind of the lusty football hooligan into the body of a newborn babe. The resulting, revolting infant is the “Look Who's Talking” sequel from Hell. That thud you hear will be your own jaw dropping to the ground, again and again. (In Scottish with English subtitles, cos Americans dinna ken Robbie Burn's auld tongue, ye wankers!)
