About This Film
Film Overview
Displacement is the concept here. As one character says, “The world is made up of victims and opportunists.” The four main characters rise and fall in relation to each other, one buoyed up as one descends. Sonia is a corporate climber whose domestic life is failing, especially her relationship with husband Andres, an architect. Her friend and sometimes babysitter, Rocio, has a perfect domestic situation ? her unhappy husband Mario cooks, cleans and tends to their child ? but yearns for something more challenging. When Sonia helps Rocio get a position at her company, little does she know there?s not enough room for both of them. When Rocio makes a grab for Sonia?s job, her greed goes further: she reaches for Sonia?s husband as well. It?s not clear that everyone will get what they want, because staying afloat, like the Archimedes Principle, depends on what you?re made of, and the liquid in which you swim.
