About This Film
Film Overview
After a failed suicide attempt, Andreas arrives in an unfamiliar city with no memory of how he got there. Greeted by a man with an absurdly large welcome banner, he is quickly doled out the necessities of life: job, wife, and apartment. The city seems relatively like the world Andreas is familiar with, but there are some peculiarities that are difficult to ignore – the people have no emotional connections and the alcohol doesn't get one drunk. Presented as a surrealist utopia, the city is run by “caretakers” who see to the perfection of their municipality; appearances are all that matter. Watching Andreas closely, they are concerned with his inability to fit in. Increasingly stifled by his new surroundings, Andreas decides to escape – only to find there is no way out. Lost in a world where only the superficial matters, Andreas finds himself right back where he started. A dark comedy that manages hilarious moments of slapstick, BOTHERSOME MAN takes a hard, relevant, and well executed stand against consumerism and conformity.
