The Class

Joosep and Anders are not friends. They come from the same background, but in the daily battles that take place in high school, they constantly find each other on opposite sides. Joosep is the class pushover, the butt of jokes and pranks. Anders is the leader of the “cool” gang who takes every opportunity he has to push Joosep further down the popularity rank. The only support that Joosep finds is in Kaspar. Kaspar begins to help Joosep, standing up to Anders and his crew, but is soon dragged right into the middle of the bullying and taunting. Kaspar begins to think he made the wrong decision and tries to get his old life, his girl, and his reputation back, but realizes that it is too late. Soon Joosep and Kaspar are backed into a corner and cannot find a way out. They reason that the only way to save face is to react to the violence with more violence. But how far is too far? While not trying to probe the mental state of the bullied and bullies themselves, Ilmar Raag instead delves into the dark side of human nature. (In Estonian with English subtitles) – WFG
