About This Film
Film Overview
In his debut feature THE CURIOSITY OF CHANCE, Russell P. Marleau transports us back to the best and the worst of the 1980s for a fresh take on the “brat pack” style high school comedy. With his very own set of stock characters-the gay transfer student, the bully, the quirky sister, the jock, the smelly principal, the drag queen, and the dad-Marleau packs a ton of teenage angst into his quick-witted, imaginative script. Chance Marquis, sporting a top hat and velvet blazer, struts into Brickland International High School on his first day. Needless to say, his peculiar dress sense doesn't win him many friends, at least not the popular ones. Before first period, football stud Brad is already jamming Chance's head into a locker. On day two, Chance's decorative eye patch doesn't go over well either. After a few more blows to the head, Chance and his outcast pals, Twyla and Hank, begin planning an elaborate scheme to get back at Brad. Yet, for some reason, Chance isn't ready to go through with it. He has no problems standing out, but can he risk fitting in? – E.J.B.
