Film Overview
When the family’s patriarch suddenly dies, a Chilean immigrant rideshare driver and her Spanish, college-age daughter must navigate the murky waters of grief, poverty, and restoration in this meditative drama from Goya Award-winning director Belén Funes (“A Thief’s Daughter”).After Julian’s death, his wife Delia and daughter Anabel face life together, but without him. Both women embark on their own path to overcome his death, although at different tempos. Anabel tries to cope with the pain and face the irreplaceable loss. Delia, instead, buries the tragedy, pretending as if nothing happened, by engrossing herself in hours of work as a cab driver. One day, they receive a threatening eviction letter explaining they must vacate the apartment where they have lived their entire lives, causing them to confront their grief. But in the midst of this uncertainty, mother and daughter will have to find a way to support each other, hold one another’s hands, and navigate this painful yet necessary process called mourning.
