About This Film
Film Overview
A delightful, satirical comedy, THE FINGER follows the story of a small Argentinian town full of interesting characters who must come together to elect their very first mayor. Initially the question is a simple one, as everyone knows that Baldomero, the charismatic, mysterious leader of the group, should be chosen. But when it turns out Baldomero has been suspiciously murdered, the town must find an alternative to go up against the only other candidate—the seedy, cantakerous Don Hidalgo. Vowing to avenge his brother's death, Florencio, the local shopkeeper, cuts off Baldomero's finger, preserving it in a jar of formaldehyde and embarking on a quest to save the town from Hidalgo's reign. When the townspeople discover that Baldomero's finger has its own omniscient, governing qualities, they decide there's only one possible outcome to their dilemma – THE FINGER shall be their new mayor. Ironically inspired by true events, the film is an amusing tale based on the novel El Dedo de Baldemero by Alberto Assardourian. (In Spanish with subtitles) – M.M.
